I found out that it was a Tool64.exe and I just went ahead and deleted that file. "insert the wireless usb adapter into your computer" every 10 seconds. My internet is up and running now, only problem is this screen popping up saying This solves the problem and you wont get a BSoD once you connect to your network. I also had to change the security settings to WPA/TKIP to be able to get internet access.

This seems to install the whole setup procedure in windows 7 rather than windows 8 consumer preview. Then go down to Privilege Level and pick run this program as administrator.)

I had the same problem but seem to have found a better solution but before trying to install the driver from the setup disk. If this does not work, I am sorry, and please note that NETGEAR does not support WNA1100 in Consumer Preview. Install the driver and you should be able to connect. The problem is solved temporarily with (1) disconnect and reconnect the device from USB port, OR (2) in Windows Device Manager, disable and then re. I am using this on Windows 7 Desktop PC and have the latest software for this device. Right click on it, and pick Run as Administrator again. My WNA1100 USB adapter disconnect at random - sometimes every few minutes and sometimes, say, once a day. After setting the compatibility mode, just to be sure, don't run the setup.exe file directly.
